There are literally millions upon millions of colors in the world, and your floor is but one. Sometimes, it’s easy to know which one, because you’ve recorded the brand and color you used in the past. But, often that’s not the case.

Usually, our clients don’t know the current color, or we have to match a new stain to old wood. When that happens, we have to make a custom stain, and to do that requires mixing colors to make a perfect match.

It’s difficult to overstate how easily this can result in mismatched colors if your technician hasn’t had the proper training.

Consider this example: Your cabinets are pine and your floor is oak, but you want complementary stains – or even matching ones. This requires knowledge of both the stain and the wood type, because different woods absorb stains in different ways.
